Plastics

Remeo offers high-quality separately collected and facility-sorted recycled plastics. Our plastic grades are suitable for both mechanical and chemical recycling processes.

Careful separation of plastic waste lays the foundation for high-quality recycled plastic

Separating different types of plastics is essential for effective material recycling. That’s why we support our waste management customers in identifying which plastic types should be collected separately. Our circular economy coordinators guide customers in improving on-site sorting at the source of waste generation.

For example, with efficient separate collection, plastic film can be turned into high-quality recycled plastic. We collect plastic film separately from sectors such as retail, logistics warehouses, industry, and construction sites. Plastic packaging collected separately from consumers and businesses can then be sorted by plastic type using our facility-based sorting process.

Plastic handling and sorting at Remeo

Most of the plastics we collect and sort consist of HDPE, LDPE, and PP. For example, separately collected clear plastic film is baled and can be directly processed through mechanical recycling. This treatment results in uniform-quality plastic with no mixed materials.

Plastic packaging collected from businesses or consumers that contains mixed plastic types is first sorted at our large-scale facility in Vantaa. There, we use infrared technology to identify plastics based on their polymer structure. The plastics sorted at our facility can be used in both mechanical and chemical recycling processes.

Why choose Remeo for your recycled plastic needs

We offer a diverse range of plastic materials
You can purchase a variety of plastic grades from us, collected from both businesses and consumers, including HDPE, LDPE, and PP.
1

Plastic sorting

We sort plastics at our treatment facility in the Greater Helsinki Region using optical separation technology. This method identifies different plastic types based on their polymer structure.

The plastics arriving at the sorting line are first shredded and screened to achieve a particle size suitable for optical separation. The materials then continue their journey along conveyor belts for further processing.
The ballistor separates 2D and 3D plastics from each other, meaning that film plastics and three-dimensional objects travel in different directions.
Infrared waves separate the different types of plastic: each material reflects and absorbs light differently. Compressed air technology guides the sorted materials forward.

At Remeo, we use cutting-edge waste treatment technology to turn waste into high-quality raw materials

Thanks to our state-of-the-art technology, we’re able to process large volumes of material at our facilities and recover a maximum share of valuable recyclable materials from waste. This helps raise our customers’ recycling rates and reduces society’s need for virgin natural resources.

We use optical separation and robotics in waste sorting.
We leverage AI to identify materials.
We monitor waste streams using real-time data and analytics.
